SUMMARY

Part of the IDEX Corporation, Precision Polymer Engineering LLC is a manufacturer and supplier of high performance, niche elastomer seals used in critical applications around the globe. PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Evaluate, prepare and implement designs, processes and equipment in order to meet or exceed the requirements of the Launch phase of new product projects.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fulfil the POC (Proof of Concept) /Golden part segments of the new product introduction process by:
  • Plan and drive projects to ensure in-scope, on-time and on-cost development and delivery.
  • Perform scope review in-order to develop new product. Identify gaps in the process and as per project needs integrate into new and/or existing product or process platforms.
  • Manages, leads and takes full responsibility of the projects from Explore to Implementation stage of the project.
  • Hands-on approach, data collection and analysis, writing SOP, building Inspection test plans (ITP), champions issue resolution including other product development activities. Determines root cause analysis for issues that arise during assembly and/or test of systems/products/processes; provides long term corrective action.
  • Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies.
  • developing processes for product development and manufacturing.
  • Liaise and communicate with internal and external customers to ensure full clarity of project status and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of the tooling, equipment and resources.
  • Lead solution generating activities in order to provide fit for purpose designs, equipment, tooling and processes.
  • Using 3D CAD software, prepare design drawings to enable successful POC and handover to the operations team. Perform in-depth design review of the drawings through review and approval process.
  • Ensure full project documentation and change control complies with PPE quality systems.
  • Evaluate and present full CAPEX requirements for any proposed resource and equipment requirements.
  • Agree and control the design freeze stage of allocated projects/new products.
  • Lead special projects or process improvements by working with other departments
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of new business processes; edits as necessary to ensure current practices are documented
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the project in progress and/or the specific goals of the department in which the incumbent works.
  • Requires knowledge necessary to perform the job function such as an understanding of the engineering change order process, DFx (Design for Excellence) engineering principles, product development process, value engineering, engineering specification waiver process, Producibility / manufacturability analysis, product structure, bill of materials, product safety requirements, material handling and root cause analysis.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS level degree in engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years' demonstrable experience of project lead/management, mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with ERP system such as JDE for modules like building BoM, product routings, tooling setups etc
  • Commercially aware and competent user of stage/gate process.
  • Demonstrable experience of 3D CAD software
  • Demonstrable experience and examples of innovative design and design techniques
  • Excellent analytical mind, attention to details and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal, written communication and team motivational skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and well organized
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage own workload
  • Strong prioritization skills and customer focused
  • Able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated
  • Prepared to learn new skills, self-develop and educated team members.
  • Ability to process, interpret and relay complex and confidential information

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
  • Must be willing to travel per business needs both domestic and international
  • Role is required to be on site in Brenham, TX, plant daily; work from home is available on an as-needed basis in agreement with the Engineering Manager
