Job Summary:
Responsible for providing direct patient care and supervising care of patients seen at Dodson Avenue and Southside Health Center. Working directly under the supervision of an Physician. Will work closely with support staff to ensure appropriate and timely work up and disposition of all patients. Serves as both role model and resource to nursing staff.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Education:
Required:
Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN). Graduate of a nationally accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.

Demonstrated competence in nursing specialty with minimum of 3 years experience.

Required:
Current license to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee
National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP)
Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty). BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
Preferred:
ACLS certification required for those involved in direct patient care
Department Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioners will work in conjunction and support providers in providing expeditious, safe patient centered care in a manner that judiciously utilizes resources and promotes positive patient responses. The Nurse Practitioner must have a strong knowledge base of a variety of diagnoses, advanced nursing principle, strong leadership skills, organizational functions, policies and regulations evidenced based practice.
The Nurse Practitioner will:
Work collaboratively with OBGYN, Specialists, and referring physicians.
Serve as both a resource and role model/mentor to RN staff
Keep current with all required Continuing education
Provides group, individual and community education classes on birth control methods, sexually transmitted diseases and other health concerns.
Facilitates/ Coordinates the interactions of the group Centering Pregnancy Program
