Position Summary:
Responsible for the daily management and supervision of the staff in his/her assigned area of Registration.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:
High school graduate with equivalent work experience.

Experience:
Supervisory experience and management/leadership skills.

Preferred:
Previous experience in registration and managed care a definite plus.

Licensure:
None

Department Position Summary:
Broad working knowledge of managed care and insurance requirements as related to registration. Obtains all demographics and insurance information.
Ability to interface with people of varied ethnic and educational backgrounds.
Must be computer literate and possess sound judgment and decision making capabilities.

Provides adequate staffing daily.
Coordinated registering and rescheduling of patients for providers.
Register patients and verify eligibility.
Obtain and witness signature for treatment and billing and assist with billing problems.
Answer proper function of work station and equipment.
Order and maintain supplies.
Cross train and works in related job areas.
Maintain supplies for daily duties.

Core Competencies:
Provides team leadership and a role model for staff for all scheduled and walk-in patients.
Assures and maintains appropriate level of staffing daily.
Assures work stations and arrangement of equipment are adequate for obtaining daily information.
Register patients efficiently on a daily basis for multiple clinics.
Complete quality assurance reports and reviews with staff to assure standards are being met to take action when needed to correct or improve.
Routinely check audit trails for errors and review with staff.
Collaborate with present billing agency and outside HMO to correct billing errors and ensures proper reimbursement.
Coordinates returned mail from bad addresses.
Coordinates provider schedules for any changes (time off, conference, etc.) and make appropriate adjustments by canceling and/or rescheduling patients.
Coordinates scheduling with nursing staff.
Daily copy insurance cards on all registered patients and file appropriately.
Assists patients in clinic or by telephone with billing problems.
Updates staff on policies and procedures.
Monitors daily work flow to ensure timely and accurate registration of patients.
Ensures self and staff meet or exceed all required educational and/or training requirements.
Address staffing issues and takes appropriate disciplinary action when necessary on a daily basis.
Maintain accurate and complete personnel records.
Establish priorities in work on a daily basis.
Monitors budget variance for his/her area reporting appropriately to manager.
Attends all mandatory meetings and inservices.
Demonstrates consistent dependability in not abusing absenteeism and tardiness.
Follows guidelines for thorough documentation of insurance and reimbursement information.
Obtains and witnesses required signatures for billing, collections, and treatment authorizations.
Verifies insurance eligibility and coverage limitations.
Handles all cash intake prudently following deposit guidelines.
Follows and adheres to departmental dress code requirements according to Admissions and registration policy.
Cross trains and works in related job areas as necessary to meet clinic staffing requirements, i.e., telephone operator.
Demonstrates interactive communication appropriate to the age of the patient being served.
