  • Associate's Degree from an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing from an accredited professional nursing education program, preferred
  • Valid Registered Nurse License from the Texas State Board of Nursing
  • Current CPR and AED Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or other related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with the techniques of data collection for an analysis of health needs for students who are medically fragile

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Additional Information
  • Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment, by may also include work while supporting students during transportation (school bus). Responsibilities require contact with sick and/or injured persons as well as children with who may have significant medical needs and may include exposure to body fluids communicable diseases and childhood illnesses. There may be exposure to potentially hazardous medical equipment and/or chemicals. Mental demands require emotional control under stress. Frequent physical activity which includes sitting, walking, standing stooping, bending, heavy lifting, restraining and/or moving up to 50 pounds using specialized medical equipment. Frequent exposure to bacteria, communicable diseases, and childhood illnesses. May also involve exposure to potentially dangerous métiers and situation that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • Travel may be required between campuses based on the needs of the programs.
  • Flexibility to adjust campuses based on district and campus classroom nursing needs.
