Position Overview
The Nursing Director is responsible for the leadership and\rmanagement of the Emergency Department and MedStar at Medstar Washington\rHospital Center. Unit Highlights

Our 47-bed, level I emergency department provides\r24-hour-a-day care for patients with all types of acute illness or injury.\rBoard-certified emergency medicine specialists - and access to dozens of other\rrenowned medical specialists - help ensure that patients get the right\rtreatment and the best outcome. The ED nursing team prides themselves on\rworking safely and efficiently in a high stress, multifaceted environment.
The internationally\rrenowned MedStar trauma (Medical Shock/Trauma Acute Resuscitation) at MedStar\rWashington Hospital Center is the regional referral center for critical\rmultiple trauma, treating individual victims of traumatic injury and the\rmultiple victims of mass trauma occurrences.
In the heart of\rthe nation's capital, the center's well-earned reputation for excellence has\rbeen repeatedly tested. It has responded to thousands of medical crises,\rincluding treating patients of the September 11th terrorist attack on the\rPentagon, and victims of the Navy Yard shootings.
We strive to provide safe, quality care by\rmaintaining a patient-centered approach. As well as our patients, we benefit\rfrom a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team approach, including Nurses, Residents/Fellows,\rAdvanced Practice Providers, Respiratory Therapy and Case Management.

Key Responsibilities
Assume 24-hour administrative and leadership authority and\rresponsibility for the management and direction of emergency services at MWHC.
Oversee the operational, personnel, and financial\ractivities of the unit to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization.
Direct and coordinate the activities of professional and\rsupport personnel within the unit.
Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical\rStaff, and leaders of other departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient\rcare.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations,\rand MedStar Health's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's preferred)
DC RN License
Minimum of five years of nursing experience
Two years of nursing leadership experience preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
