GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Election Integrity Division is seeking a new criminal prosecutor to prosecute criminal election-related offenses through all phases of prosecution. This position will also perform a variety of non-litigation functions, including but not limited to the following: drafting and reviewing election integrity legislation; inhouse legal advice to OAG staff on election integrity matters and investigations; and election-related trainings to law enforcement, prosecution, and election official audiences.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
- Handles all phases of criminal prosecutions including investigation, intake, grand jury, pretrial hearings, discovery, plea bargaining, trial, sentencing appeals.
- Drafts pleadings, motions, subpoenas, jury charges, and other court related documents.
- Provides legal advice, counsel and assistance to local county and district attorneys upon request.
- Provides legal advice to Office of the Attorney General staff and its criminal investigators concerning laws affecting election integrity.
- Performs legal research and reports findings and conclusions; prepares the legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Develops and provides training on Election Integrity to judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, and election officials.
- Drafts and reviews proposed legislation, assists on election integrity policy issues, becomes a subject matter expert on election integrity laws, as needed.
- Performs related work as assigned
- Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
- Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
- Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Assistant Attorney General I:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D.
- Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas
- Member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas
- Eligible to practice in Texas
- Knowledge of law and legal principles and practices relevant to the prosecution of criminal cases
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
- Skill in effective oral and written communication [Writing sample required at time of interview, if selected]
- Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
- Skill in conducting effective research
- Exhibits a professional character, behavior, attitude, performance, and appearance.
- Exhibits resourcefulness in confronting tasks.
- Ability to maintain organized and structured files and work product.
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback

- Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
- Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
- Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
- Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
- Ability to long distance travel (including overnight travel) up to 50%
Assistant Attorney General (AAG) II: All of the above minimum qualifications for an AAG I plus:
- Experience: One additional year of full-time experience working in the following or close related fields: Criminal Prosecutions
