GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Office of the Attorney General is a dynamic organization with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. The OAG IT Division is looking to hire a dedicated eDiscovery Analyst for the Electronic Discovery Services (Litigation Support) Team. The eDiscovery Analyst provides litigation support under the direct supervision of Director of Litigation Support. The focus of this role is to provide eDiscovery expertise during the discovery process for complex, time-sensitive cases. eDiscovery Analyst responsibilities involve coordinating case projects for eDiscovery with multiple litigation teams across divisions; monitoring the progress and schedule of projects; and communicating with stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties, including client agencies, outside counsel and opposing parties. Responsibilities may extend to managing day-to-day litigation support for case activity and attorney requests while providing technical support in eDiscovery areas.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Manage document review or eDiscovery projects delivering project plans and schedules. Acquire specialized resources if needed and delegate tasks.
  • Coordinate and participate in team meetings to identify eDiscovery project scope, key milestones, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate internal legal and support resources as well as vendor resources to participate in complex projects as needed.
  • Mentor and educate legal teams on eDiscovery best practices, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Anticipate and proactively problem-solve case team needs.
  • Consult, confer with, and educate client agency resources and legal teams and provide assistance when required during litigation on behalf of the agency.
  • Attend or coordinate pre-discovery conferences amongst parties and advise litigation teams on best practices and standard formats.
  • Train and educate legal teams in effective and efficient methods of document review and related technologies or capabilities. Explain the Electronic
  • Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the constructs of the phases of the model.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of eDiscovery trends and emerging capabilities for eDiscovery software.
  • Handle large datasets shared between parties. Develop load files and transforms following specs and defined standards.
  • Perform data analysis using industry standard tools and software, with the ability to present findings in an understandable fashion. Tools could include data analytics, complex spreadsheets, databases or freeform data.
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
  • Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Telework schedules are permitted for employees based on the agency's approved Telework Plan (if schedule does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained).

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Program Specialist IV:

  • Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Experience: Five years of experience working in Litigation Support, eDiscovery Review, Paralegal or technical support in a law firm environment, or other related fields; may substitute credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of the eDiscovery processes and lifecycle; familiarity with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
  • Skill in handling multiple complex tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
  • Ability to train others about eDiscovery processes and lifecycle; ability to explain and utilize the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
  • Ability to provide excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills with both Litigation Support teams and legal teams
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working with litigation and Litigation Support teams
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional environment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel, if needed
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%


Program Specialist V - All of the above qualifications for Program Specialist IV, plus:

  • Experience: One additional year of experience working in Litigation Support, eDiscovery Review, Paralegal or technical support in a law firm environment, or other related fields


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Five additional years of litigation (or closely related) experience; examples of experience could be - work in a litigation support group, eDiscovery management or document review, litigation paralegal, or technical support in a law firm environment
  • Education - Bachelor's degree and/or advanced degree in related field, JD, or similar
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of document review platform best practices, familiarity with assistive technology in data review, using advanced search strategies
  • Experience: Using Relativity, Relativity One, Everlaw, or similar review platforms
  • Abilities: Strong Excel skills, data analysis and analytics, and reporting
  • Certifications: Relativity, or other platform user certifications, ACEDS Certification, Paralegal certification
