Occupational Therapist

Provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area of occupational therapy for patients referred to non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff members. May have an individual agreement with an academic institution for instructional services. Participates in research conducted within the Rehabilitation Institute.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains documentation for occupational therapy services.
• Communicates patient status to healthcare team.
• Completes charge and statistical information to reflect services rendered.
• Schedules patients for productivity and quality care.
• Provides home instructions to patients and families.
• Supervises clinical education program for students.
• Maintains professional license through continuing education.
• Performs assessments, treatment, and supervises assistants.
• Rotates through treatment areas as needed.
• Participates in staff meetings and education programs.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
• Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Active license in practicing state required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Occupational Therapist (OT)
