Job Summary

This position performs a variety of secretarial duties and serves as the first point of contact for the department. Requires the ability to interact with students, faculty, and visitors of diverse backgrounds the ability to work under time sensitive deadlines, and independently.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$18.50 - $19.15 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series. This includes work such as performing a wide variety of office support tasks, which requires the use of judgment and initiative and the ability to operate computer systems, using word processing, database and software packages. Knowledge of the organization, programs, practices, and procedures of the unit is central to the performance of the duties.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
2. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via email, over the phone and in person, including the ability to take and relay accurate information.
3. Must be flexible to manage multiple and changing priorities.
4. Working knowledge of typical office equipment (computers, copy and scanning machines, multi-line telephone, etc.).
5. Good record-keeping and proofreading skills.
6. Appreciation of diversity and creating an inclusive environment for students and staff.

Work Hours

8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
