The Office Technician (Typing) position is responsible for performing clerical duties including, but not limited to, performing clerical tasks for the Division of Instruction; distributing mail; maintaining time sheets; typing forms, reports, memos, letters; obtaining bids and completing purchase orders; calculating department expenditures and maintaining updated spreadsheets for different funds; maintaining files; ordering and organizing supplies; making arrangements for special events; processing staff development and activity request forms; scheduling the school-wide photographs; creating forms, certificates, program books, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets; entering data using MS Word and maintaining records on the computer; updating the substitute teacher contact list; working in other departments when understaffed; and assisting with special projects. The Office Technician acts as the Substitute Teacher clerk, scheduling daily substitute teachers when teachers contact the sub-email. This position requires the use of ASL on a continuing basis. The Office Technician communicates with students, staff, and parents regarding school-related information.

Qualifications

1) Possession of strong program and people skills; 2) Respect for cultural diversity; 3) Proficiency in ASL; 4) Good command of written English; and 5) Possession of strong computer skills. 6) Willingness to work the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. when school is in session and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during periods when school is not in session. Applicant must be fluent in American Sign Language .

The California School for the Deaf, Fremont CSDF) is one of 6 State Special Schools under the Department of Education. Located on a 96-acre campus shared with the California School for the Blind, and the Diagnostic Center, North, we are a short walk from BART and have free employee parking.
