Under the general direction of Principal Safety Engineer of the Research and Standards Safety Unit in the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), in the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), the Office Technician (Typing) provides clerical support and performs office duties for the Principal Safety Engineer for Research and Standards Safety. The incumbent performs calendar management, meeting scheduling, and front desk duties, including answering phones, checking email, submitting travel claims, assisting with timesheets, preparing documents, and tracking projects.

The Office Technician is responsible for adhering to civil service laws, as well as departmental and division rules, policies, and procedures. The incumbent demonstrates professionalism, works cooperatively with DOSH/DIR management and employees, stakeholders, and the public, and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. The incumbent will perform the following duties with a high degree.

Working Conditions
This position is located at: Cal/OSHA Research And Standards Safety Unit, 2 MacArthur Place, Suite 700, Santa Ana, CA 92707.

The incumbent works in a high-rise building with natural and artificial light and temperature controls and occupies a cubicle workspace. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer as necessary for email communication, accessing software platforms, drafting documents, data entry and other purposes.

Special Requirements

The position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed of not less than 40 words per minute from ordinary manuscript or printed or typewritten material.
