The Office Technician (Typing) position is responsible for performing clerical duties including, but not limited to distributing mail; answering telephones; calling parents when necessary; confirming game schedules for Middle School and High School games; tracking teacher and civic service staff attendance; maintaining time sheets; maintaining department records and files; typing forms, reports, memos, and letters; obtaining bids and completing purchase orders; Prepares and monitors contracts and short-term agreements (sports officials associations and agencies to support Athletic Program); editing written documents using correct grammar and punctuation; calculating department expenditures; ordering and organizing supplies; updating schedules, class lists, and other information; processing activity request forms; creating forms, certificates, program books, PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheets; entering data using MS Word and Excel and maintaining records on the computer; assisting teachers, students, staff, parents and visitors as needed; and other special projects as required. The Office Technician also performs all these tasks for the Physical Education and Athletic Program Principal for summer school.

Qualifications

1) Possession of strong program and people skills; 2) Respect for cultural diversity; 3) Proficiency in ASL; 4) Good command of written English; and 5) Possession of strong computer skills. Applicant must be fluent in American Sign Language .

Department Information
The California School for the Deaf, Fremont CSDF) is one of 6 State Special Schools under the Department of Education. Located on a 96-acre campus shared with the California School for the Blind, and the Diagnostic Center, North, we are a short walk from BART and have free employee parking.
