Job Summary:

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applicants to fill tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the area of cancer biology. We are interested in candidates working at the mechanistic and/or the systems level to study fundamental questions related to cancer development, progression, metastasis, and therapeutic interventions. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: basic research with relevance to cancer; development and utilization of cutting edge technologies; use of pharmacological interventions as tools for understanding signaling and/or as potential therapeutics; the integration of computational approaches with bench science. Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree and appropriate and sufficient post-doctoral experience to establish and/or maintain an independent research program competitively funded by extramural grant support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cutting edge and impactful cancer-related research
  • Publish academic research articles in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate results at national/international conferences
  • Obtain and maintain funding to support the candidate's research program
  • Mentor trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, summer interns) in academic research methodologies and career development
  • Teach in graduate training courses
  • Perform service-related activities in the department and institution, as well as nationally

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • PhD and/or MD degree
  • Academic peer-reviewed publication record in the broad area of cancer research


Associate Professor:

  • PhD and/or MD degree
  • Academic peer-reviewed publication record in the broad area of cancer research
  • Track record of extramural funding while currently holding at least one R01 (or equivalent) grant.
  • Track record of training graduate students and/or postdoctoral fellows.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A track record of competitive, peer-reviewed grant funding
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Mentorship experience of trainees (undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral researchers)
  • A track record of national and/or international invited talks


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated excellence, originality, and productivity in research
  • Having received formal training in mentorship and/or teaching
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • The goal to establish and/or maintain an independent research program competitively funded by extramural grant support

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $125,000 to $140,000

Associate Professor: $140,000 to $160,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
