Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is part of the Pediatric clinic team. This position requires interest in patient care and administrative tasks, the ability to be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function as Medical Assistants (MA) at BDC Pediatric clinic by doing height, weight, blood pressure and device downloads.
  • Phlebotomy/Help blood draws as needed
  • Give flu shots per provider's order
  • Administer depression screen as needed
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Entering lab results into EPIC
  • Practicing good HIPAA compliance
  • Ensured exam rooms are fully stocked in accordance to physician needs
  • Inventory log of medical supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

The clinic is certified by the American Diabetes Association, and our nurses, dietitians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and social workers are Certified Diabetes Educators. Our pediatric endocrinologists also participate in studies that strive to advance and improve glucose monitoring and closed-loop technology through observational studies and clinical trials at our Center.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Health Care I

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required
  • Medical Assistant Certification


Health Care II

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • 1-year work experience in a medical setting as a Medical Assistant
    • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of work experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred but not required.
  • Electronic Medical Record and medical terminology knowledge highly desirable.
  • Fluidity in Spanish language


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • The ability to be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective customer service/communication to patients.
  • Phone/fax/computer operation (Microsoft Office and EMR).

The hiring range for this position has been established at

Health Care Tech I: $40,908 - $47,455.20

Health Care Tech II: $42,948 - $49,826.40

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
