Description

We are looking for an experienced Open Source professional to establish Verily's Open Source Program Office (OSPO). The OSPO Lead will be Verily's Open Source subject matter expert and will work closely with Engineering and Legal to establish processes for Verily's open source needs, including reviewing inbound and outbound projects and providing consultative advice on a variety of matters to ensure legal compliance and community acceptance. This is a vital role to help Verily improve our open source compliance practices and our presence in the open source community.

Responsibilities
  • Establish processes for open source requests: publishing, consumption, contribution, etc. and work closely with Legal and Engineering on various licensing issues.
  • Champion Open Source, prepare and deliver Open Source training.
  • Work with Engineering to embed open source processes into tools and procedures.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with legal obligations and community best practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Practical experience and/or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 5+ years experience in Terraform development and testing, or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in programming in at least one of the following: Go, Python, Rust, BASH, Typescript, Java
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with use of Open Source in publishing of scientific papers and scientific data.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate complex concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical and legal knowledge.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and to build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders.


The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000 - $184,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
