Introduction

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation System Development, Bureau of Traffic Operations is seeking a well-organized, friendly individual for an Operations Program Associate Limited Term Employee. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week. The position is located in Milwaukee at the Traffic Operations Center, 433 W. St Paul Ave.

Position Summary

This is a part-time, Limited Term Employee (LTE) position, approximately 20 hours/week. It is a support-level position for the Traffic Systems and Management Section for the Bureau of Traffic Operations (BTO). The position performs engineering support functions for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) which include portable changeable message sign (PCMS) program support, Freeway Service Team program support, managing the TMC COOP plan, TMC special even tracking, and other duties as assigned.

This position is in schedule-range 02-11 with a salary of $21.66, per hour.

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or a similar software
  • Experience in basic accounting which may include invoicing
  • Experience completing administrative tasks which may include document management
A more than qualified candidate will have all of the above criteria as well as:
  • A technical background with building systems
