Organizational Development Director
Memphis, Tennessee
AutoZone, the leading retailer of automotive replacement parts and accessories, is looking for an exceptional Organizational Development Director to drive enterprise-wide talent-management and organizational development initiatives. This key role will be based in our Memphis Store Support Center and will develop and improve our efforts in leadership development, team development, organizational design, employee engagement and workforce planning. This is a highly visible role working closely with the VP of Human Resources, the Senior Vice President of HR as well as key executives and AutoZoners across the organization. You will manage a small team to accomplish department objectives.
This position is based in Memphis, TN with a hybrid (3 days in office, 2 home) work schedule. A relocation package is avaiable.

How You'll Impact the organization:
Organizational, Job, and Competency Design
- Design future-proof, agile, and resilient enterprise and functional operating models that embrace the future of work and new skills.
- Support enterprise and team organization design and change management efforts.
- Analyze training needs for the various departments across the organization based on ongoing assessments.
Talent Management
- Provide strategic and operational direction for organizational development processes, ensuring that talent development processes and programs are designed to deliver a diverse, promotable, and engaged talent pipeline across the organization.
- Manage and develop succession planning process for business-critical positions, reporting status and recommendations to senior leadership. Ensure high-quality succession plans are in place.
- Regularly evaluate and oversee enterprise-wide talent management systems and processes necessary for the organization to execute the talent strategy.
Employee Engagement
- Oversee employee engagement as a strategic priority.
- Create alignment on key engagement/culture initiatives while gaining support across the organization and at the executive level.
- Operationalize the engagement strategy: manage the survey vendor and process, provide support on how to interpret data, and bring in data points and analytics outside of employee engagement.
Leadership Development
- Work collaboratively to set strategy for leadership development programs.
- Oversee the design and execution of leadership development programs including gap analysis, curriculum design, and coordinating delivery for desired learner experience and learning outcomes, including key KPIs.
- Design and deliver succession plan programs to ensure a strong bench for key roles.
Requirements:
You are an experienced diplomatic leader who is comfortable with team based decision making and cross functional collaboration. You have a strong business acumen and a keen ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of management. You have experience leading a team, developing business partners, working with vendors to drive to completion of a goal.
- 10+ years' experience
- 7+ years of experience leading enterprise-wide talent management programs.
- Demonstrated data driven decision making experiences developing metrics to measure and assess the effectiveness of OD initiatives.
- Experience implementing policies and procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in assessments including, but not limited to: DiSC, EQ-360, Myers Briggs, Hogan, etc. strongly preferred.
