Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / SILVERWOOD LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).

The reporting location is Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, located at 14651 Cedar Circle, Hesperia CA 92345.

The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. All parks listed are managed by a State Park Superintendent V and further organized into the following functions: Visitor Services, Aquatic Services, Maintenance Services, and Administrative Services.

The Park Aide works under the immediate supervision of the State Park Interpreter III, and alongside other interpretive staff. This position is part of a team that provides quality interpretive services at Silverwood Lake S.R.A. Duties include but are not limited to daily operations of the Silverwood Lake Nature Center, including housekeeping, assisting with planning and conducting of interpretive programs, including school tours, campfire/ junior ranger programs, and roving interpretation. Will also assist the State Parks Interpreter I with community outreach, volunteer management, recordkeeping, special events, and various public contact.

Peak season dates are May 1st through September 30th and Park Aides are expected to work most weekends, evenings, and holidays during this timeframe. This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period. Duty hours may vary based on operational need. This position requires the wearing of a uniform, provided by the incumbent.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Working Conditions

The Interpretive Park Aide duty locations are the Nature Center, Quagga Building and any other area in or about Silverwood Lake SRA as assigned by the lead Supervisor. The Interpretive Park Aide may work under adverse weather not limited to extreme heat/cold, wind, rain, lightning, and dynamic weather conditions. The Interpretive Park Aide must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as visitation and operational needs demand.
