POSITION
Under close supervision, cleans and maintains streets, alleys, parks, and other shared community areas. Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. The below list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.

QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent, AND six months experience landscaping parks or in a trades maintenance OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess at the time of application and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an outdoor environment. Work may require frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting 50 pounds. Incumbents may be exposed to repetitive motion, extreme temperatures and weather, moving traffic, areas under construction, toxic fumes and chemicals, infections diseases, and water and airborne pathogens.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose experience best meets the city's needs will be invited to participate in the examination for this position. Candidates must have access to a computer with internet, video, and audio capabilities to participate in our examination process.
The examination may consist of a Training & Experience Evaluation and Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must receive a score of 70 or higher to have their names placed on the active eligibility list for one year. The top three ranks on the Eligibility List will have their application materials forwarded to the hiring authority for a selection interview. All offers of employment are contingent upon completing a pre-employment physical and fingerprint clearance before beginning employment with the City of Inglewood.

TASKS
- Clean and maintains bus stop areas, parking lots, alleys, streets, sidewalks, medians, and vacant or abandoned buildings and properties;
- Collects and removes garbage, debris, and weeds from throughout the community, Parks, and other City facilities;
- Performs lawn maintenance, weed removal, and sprinkler maintenance;
- Verifies City property and environmental cleanliness will meet city safety codes and standards;
- Operates tractors, power hand tools, and other machinery/equipment to remove weeds, branches, and other unsightly material;
- Boards, fences, and secures abandoned buildings to discourage illegal entry into unsafe areas;
- Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, and machinery used in community service maintenance;

- Knowledge of maintenance and community beautification methods and practices, trash, debris, and hazardous material disposal procedures and guidelines, and occupational hazards and safety guidelines;
- Skilled in safely using power hand tools, equipment, and machinery used in community maintenance and in following oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and perform essential duties with little supervision
