Description

The Humanities Collegiate Division and the Department of Romance Languages & Literatures at the University of Chicago invites applications for part-time Lecturers during the 2024-25 academic year.

The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in various courses of the French Language curriculum. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching seminar-style language courses using a highly interactive communicative approach, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparing and grading of assignments and testing materials. Depending on the curricular needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2024-25 will be at least $7,538. This position is not benefits eligible.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in French or a related field, superior proficiency in French according to ACTFL guidelines, and at least one year of experience teaching French at the college or post-secondary level. Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. or equivalent in French and/or an advanced degree in second language pedagogy/acquisition.
