Qualifications
High school and 3 years experience
Education: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None
Experience in the Optometric industry preferred.
Responsible for front desk operations patient scheduling & registration, insurance/eligibility verifications, reminder calls, check in/out, collection of payments, and coverage of phone/fax lines.
- Serve as first point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, students and faculty.
- Answers questions and resolves moderate customer service concerns and refers more difficult issues to manager; adheres to department guidelines on referring patients/visitors to the appropriate area.
- Provides excellent customer and patient services support by setting appointments and providing phone coverage.
- Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate staff and relays pertinent information.
- Communicates with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner.
- Retrieves and files medical records, enters/updates patient information, and ensures patients documents are scanned into the electronic systems.
- Identifies payer source, verifies insurance eligibility, financial status and assigns correct pay type.
- Assists patients with check-in process; checks out patients using electronic medical records system including inputting data, posting charges/payments, and searching and retrieving data.
- Faxes, copies and distributes medical record information for doctors and patients. Ensures confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Works as part of a team with all clinic staff including management, nursing, and medical personnel. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
