Job Summary

A Patient Safety Program Coordinator provides oversight and coordination of all elements of the Risk Management Program, in collaboration with the manager of Patient Safety. Responsibilities include the planning, organizing, and evaluation of patient care within the program as well as compliance with regulatory bodies. This position supports the Patient Safety Team and maintains a strong component of patient/family advocacy. The Patient Safety Program Coordinator is responsible for the facility's risk management activities, which include but may not be limited to general knowledge of TGH's insurance programs, claims management, facilitating risk reporting on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data including our collaborative risk review program, conducting risk management educational programs, complying with risk management related standards by regulatory and accrediting agencies with the objective of enhancing patient safety, promoting patient safety, quality care, and aligning with our Collaborative Just Culture. This individual participates in coordinating and facilitating efficient and effective event reporting analysis with a robust action plan tracking system. A coordinator's focus will be reviewing data from root cause analyses along with monitoring event reporting on a day to day basis. Works to determine areas of potential risk of exposure by tracking and trending incident reports and collaborative risk reviews. In addition the coordinator will provide collaboration with claims management team to incorporate their risk into the risk management program. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or closely related field and at least five (5) years of healthcare risk management experience required or healthcare practitioner (RN, RT, etc.) with at least five (5) years' experience in clinician, coordinator, supervisory or team lead roles.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification strongly preferred or obtained within one year of employment.
