Position Overview: Responsible for inputting new claims, processing payments, conducting billing research and responding to telephone inquiries. Prepares daily reports for claims management team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Posts payments and ensures allowances, adjustments and write-offs are posted correctly.
Reconciles electronic remittances (ERA), EFT payments and electronic lockbox transactions.
Processes charge corrections and ensure balancing, processes refunds, performs check payment reconciliations and completes deposit reports.
Investigates unidentified cash and resolve misdirected payments.
Reconciles billing and invoices, checks balances, produces statements, and maintains patient files.
May perform insurance billing clerical work, including reviewing and verifying insurance accounts against program provisions (e.g., Medicare, BlueCross). Resolves routine patient billing inquiries and problems.

Required Skills & Experience

Job Characteristics Knowledge and Skill:
2+ years of relevant experience
Good communication, problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast changing environment
General knowledge of Medicare and SOX Compliance and HIPPA
General knowledge of Janus and OPS processes.
Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and OnBase
Creative, self-disciplined and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently
Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and a team player
Time management and time critical prioritization skills
