Job Title: Payroll Analyst Department: Human Resources Job Reports To: VP, Payroll
Status: Exempt


Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Manage payroll budgets by department across the entire organization. Associated duties include but are not limited to tracking, reporting, identifying discrepancies and/or potential for overages, and escalating errors and concerns to VP, Payroll.
  • Responsible for running overtime reports no less than monthly and working with managers and department heads to minimize overtime within their areas.
  • Work closely with Finance to manage the General Ledger, ensuring that journal entries for each entity are timely and accurately entered and reported.
  • Audit Support: Assisting with internal and external payroll audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting data.
  • System Maintenance: Assisting with conducting regular audits of payroll system to ensure data integrity and troubleshoot any issues related to payroll processing or tax calculations
  • Oversee ACA tracking and compliance process, including but not limited to analyzing hours worked for variable hour, part-time staff across the organization and working with HR and management to identify employees approaching eligibility. Also responsible for annual reporting related to ACA (1094 & 1095-Cs, etc.).
  • Evaluate and track various compensation programs, sales programs, and salary structures, ensuring compliance & equitability, and making recommendations for changes and/or best practices to implement.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to tax laws, wage and hour laws and other payroll-related regulations.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities assigned, acting as back-up for other positions as needed, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate levels of confidentiality, and providing excellent customer service.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, analytics or related field.
  • At least three (3) years prior experience in accounting, finance, and/or payroll.
  • Experience with cloud-based HRIS system preferred.
  • Experience with Intacct or other cloud-based based accounting software preferred.
  • General payroll processing knowledge.
  • Must possess general knowledge and application of tax regulations and tax accounting principles, concepts and standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial reports and validate data and to identify and correct errors.
  • Advanced skills with Excel (including vLookup and Pivot Tables), Word and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Organize own work, ability to multitask, keen attention to detail, identify and set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

  • Possess a valid driver's license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by our insurance carrier (without conditions).
Essential Physical Functions:
  • Physical activities include sitting, walking and standing for prolonged periods of time, as well as bending, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, balancing and handling of materials.
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly with others.
  • Ability to work in cold temperatures on occasion.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • High finger dexterity.
  • Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech.
