GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs audits of payroll systems, accounting, processes, practices, reporting, research, and analytics within the Private Fleet. Performs deep-dive data analysis into Payroll topics Works closely with employees and management to ensure integrity of all Fleet submitted payroll, including audits. Performs analytics for business and operational processes. Has comprehensive knowledge for all payroll accounting activities including journal entry processing, monthly accruals, and account reconciliations.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilizes an exceptional degree of accuracy to work on a full range of payroll related activities that support timely and accurate processing for Fleet payroll and accounting. Communicate reconciliation needs clearly and determine best practices. Identify training needs by performing in-depth investigations and analysis to determine root cause of opportunities while identifying gaps and go forward solutions. Paid out reconciliations between Fleet management systems and payroll systems on a timely basis.
  • Partners with local fleet teams such as Fleet Managers, Sr Managers, and Directors to ensure the accurate use of all pay codes for accountability and compliance on an ongoing basis. Completes reconciliations and resolves discrepancies. Maintains appropriate timeliness and controls for reporting and research for accuracy prior to submission to payroll.

  • Fulfills payroll audit requests (daily and weekly) for accuracy and detail while evaluating best practices and training needs to determine short- and long-term goals to reduce company expense and implement process improvements. Communicate findings with management on a regular basis.

  • Weekly review of pay codes for high level accuracy and usage across all sites. Pay codes must be paid accurately and used to support pay structure for all drivers. Pay audits with high level usage reporting to determine usage and accuracy for consistency across all locations. This will be pay code specific trending outliers for usage of codes.

  • Review data and analytics around site pay structures to meet W2 expectations to review with leadership. Partners with Compensation and management on all recommended adjustments.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
  • Understand the strategy, trends, and context of the business to shape output.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of payroll laws, calculations, accounting principles, and regulations.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing change consistent with strategic initiatives.
  • Self-Reliant with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced PC and Microsoft Office skills (Access skills, Power Query, or Power BI experience).
  • Team player with the ability to interact and maintain relationships with multiple departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with all levels of management.
  • Exceptional analytical experience for interpreting data, presenting options, and making informed recommendations with strong people skills need to influence and negotiate with customers.


WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

Business or Finance related experience plus -2 to 4 years of accounting and analytical experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
