Samaritans Purse is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join the team in Boone, NC . As a payroll specialist, you are responsible for assisting the Director of Payroll with the administration of payroll. This position includes helping employees with general questions and requests daily, assisting in the preparation of the Bi-Weekly North American payroll, as well as the Monthly TCN payroll. Also, provide various reports needed for other areas in Finance, as well as filings and audits . Come join our team and use your gifts for the Kingdom.

A day in the life of a Payroll Specialist:

In the role of Payroll Specialist , you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Maintain a complete understanding and ability to perform all aspects of the payroll upload and processing for all pay cycles (monthly and biweekly); Research and stay current on payroll laws and tax requirements and serve as the Lead Payroll Specialist backup
  • Prepares taxable benefit entries. Submit via Excel to CI into the PeopleSoft Payroll module for processing. Email taxable benefit information to employees impacted each payroll
  • Manage all aspects of the timekeeping file load including Non-Exempt employee timesheets, uploading, and data entry and reconciliation
  • Set up Award codes for allocations for domestic payroll and work with Projects Accounting to resolve code issues for field payroll
  • Prepare various monthly reports for management as assigned and schedules for all applicable field staff salaries paid through Accounts Payable
  • Serve as backup for TCN payroll process and preparation of monthly payment schedules for all TCN/International salaries paid through Accounts Payable
  • Provide project accounting information and assistance in the international tax filing process for the field offices
  • Calculate, set up, and file all child support, garnishments, and levies
  • Assist in the preparation of information for both internal and external payroll audits and insurance audits

Qualifications & Experience :
  • Associate degree (A.A.) and one (1) to three (3) years of related payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and Accounting experience
  • Experience working with a financial general ledger and in the full payroll process, start to finish, is preferred
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft and Excel is preferred
  • Critical thinker who enjoys problem-solving and finding solutions

  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll tax concepts and financial general ledger
