Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services is seeking a talented Mid-Level Penetration Test Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting penetration testing on various information technology systems to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Mid-Level Penetration Test Engineer will perform penetration testing on IT systems to assess security vulnerabilities and propose recommendations for improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting penetration tests on systems, networks, and applications to identify potential security flaws.
  • Performing vulnerability and risk assessments.
  • Developing penetration test plans and strategies.
  • Documenting all findings and presenting results to stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with security teams to address and remediate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Staying current on the latest cybersecurity trends and threats.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in penetration testing or related cybersecurity roles.
  • Relevant certifications such as CEH, OSCP, or CISSP.
  • Experience using penetration testing tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, etc.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of penetration testing methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with network protocols, web application security, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze complex systems.


Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with conducting penetration tests in a government or federal environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, or DIACAP.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Certifications such as GPEN, GWAPT, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud security concepts and tools.


Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
