Meta is seeking a Performance and Capacity Engineer to join the Capacity team to focus on planning and delivering capacity to Meta products and platforms. This person would be required to work cross-functionally with a number of teams to ensure optimal operation and growth of our computing resources from both a cost and technology perspective. Tens of billions of user requests, hundreds of peta bytes of data, thousands of giga bps of network flow. Help build one of the largest Internet services in the world!

Performance and Capacity Engineer, Tooling Responsibilities


  • Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to manage capacity and scale the infrastructure

  • Tackle the state-of-the-art hardware performance issues. Analyze and debug difficult server performance issues (latest in industry), identify bottlenecks and optimize product/service performance to improve user experience

  • Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with systems, network, application operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions

  • Develop coolest tools to monitor billions of user requests: Create monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis

  • Develop tooling & automation and optimize for capacity accounting, resource management, and infrastructure operations

  • Tackle and analyze operational issues in the Meta's infrastructure


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research or other technical field

  • 8+ years of experience in performance or software engineering

  • 8+ years of experience in coding & scripting languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, PHP

  • Experience working with large scale systems

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling


Preferred Qualifications


  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research or other technical field

  • Understanding of infrastructure capacity management tools and processes

  • Experience in infrastructure operations and technical infrastructure knowledge

  • Experience working on ambiguous problems and managing uncertainty
