Under the close supervision of the Personnel Supervisor I at the entry level, and under general supervision at the journey and advanced levels, the Personnel Specialist is responsible for a variety of personnel transactions in the areas of personnel record keeping, payroll, certification, personnel document processing and related personnel transaction functions. Apply appropriate laws, rules, memorandum of understanding and policies of control agencies (State Personnel Board, CalHR, State Controller's Office, CalPERS, etc.) along with departmental policies that pertain to personnel and payroll transactions. Utilize various reference manuals (Personnel Action Manual, Payroll Procedures Manual, Benefits Administration Manual, Pay Scales, etc.) to process documents and resolve transaction issues. Maintain confidentiality related to employee's personnel and payroll information.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park.
The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers 31 male camps located throughout California.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
