Under the direct supervision of the pharmacy Chief (Supervisor), coordinates the daily support operations of a Pharmacy Department. Serves as a working functional supervisor or team leader for Pharmacy support staff. Immunization Administration Certification is a requirement of the position. Incumbents not already certified, must become immunization certified within 90 days from the date of hire.

SUMMARY

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.
- Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program or institutional/retail pharmacy experience.
- Must currently be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts with an active pharmacy technician license without restrictions from the MA Board of Pharmacy.
- Must currently have an active National Pharmacy Training Certification without restrictions.
- Must have Certified in Immunization Administration by an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education ("ACPE") accredited training program or become certified within 90 days of entering the role.
- Must complete Certified Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education (CE) credits per calendar year as required by National Pharmacy Technician Certification and in accordance with Pharmacy Staff License Monitoring and Maintenance of Credentials Policy .
- Must not be listed on the Exclusion Database List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
- At least 3 years of pharmacy support experience required, preferably with at least 2 years of experience in a high volume retail pharmacy or outpatient facility.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Leadership potential.
- Requires in depth knowledge of area of specialty.
- Must possess working knowledge of pharmacy operations and cash handling experience.
- Requires knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are preferred.
- Must be team oriented and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Sound judgment with the ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Requires knowledge of medication abbreviation and symbols, common dosage calculations, and storage requirements.
- Strong computer skills are preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook desirable.
