Job Description
Pharmacy Operations
Analyzes, interprets, and ensures efficiency of the daily aspects of the pharmacy service, which includes staffing and workflow issues. Leads the management of the technician role of all areas of pharmacy including supply chain, tech check tech, distribution and IV room and waste management. Develops and implements policies and procedures related to the technician workflow, proposes changes that may impact pharmacy department. Provides leadership support to the director and all technicians for the development of pharmacy services and THR initiatives.
Maintains knowledge in all aspects of the technical pharmacy service.
Serves as a liaison to other departments.
Identifies and coordinates process & quality improvement opportunities within the department.
Human Resources
Administration of select personnel logistics such as ensuring thorough training and competency of technical staff, providing performance feedback routinely for direct reports, participating in talent selection as well as disciplinary processes.
Ensure that policies relating to hiring, competencies, scheduling, payroll, separation and other workplace functions are disseminated to staff and compliance is maintained.
Acts as a Role model and serves as an advocate for technicians and promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues. Promotes the THR promise behaviors.
Management of not only one's own time, but also for the facilitation of efficiencies of direct reports.
Quality/Safety/Regulatory
Participates in the development and implementation of the department's policies and procedures as well as quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, programs and standards.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with department/hospital/system staff, peers and leaders and coordinates efforts to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participates in designated committees, and addresses issues related to pharmacy.
Promotes a professional image in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behaviors.
Financial Management and Planning
Shares the responsibility for decreasing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage), and discovering new efficiencies (across THR) remains a priority for this position.
Actively supports the pharmacy department and pharmacy Director in implementing, monitoring and evaluating the strategic plan and operational budget for the department.
Education
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
Experience
3 Years experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician Required
and
2 Years progressive leadership experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
And
Other IV Certification Upon Hire Required
Skills
Basic keyboarding skills, Microsoft Suite knowledge, ability to multitask. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills which includes proficiency in the English language. Ability to motivate, lead a team, and build relationships with the pharmacy and multidisciplinary team. Ability to manage complex situations which may include personnel or technical aspects of the pharmacy service. Ability to concentrate in various environments. Serves as a role model to others.
