CPP Medical Specialties is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician for Medical Oncology. The Pharmacy Technician will work collaboratively with the medical oncology pharmacist to prepare medications for patients. Receiving and verifying the prescriptions, pricing and filling prescriptions, and maintaining pharmacy retail records. In accord with department and institutional policies/procedures and with the rules/regulations enacted by the State Board of Pharmacy, they will support the department's logistic, clinical, technical, and clerical functions.

Essential Responsibilities:
Participates in the preparing and dispensing of medication for the oncology retail pharmacy (Oral Anti-cancer medication) under RPh supervision.
Participates in assisting the clinical pharmacy technician in compounding of medication (IV Anti-cancer medication).
Enter, maintain, and assure the accuracy of all information in the Pharmacy Department's patient data base.
Input of written and electronic prescriptions.
Properly bill primary insurance in addition to secondary funding/grants.
Process medication orders: locate, assemble, package, and label drug doses (new orders, unit-dose cycle fill, and out-patient prescriptions), deliver completed orders once checked by licensed RPh.
Clarify questionable orders and solve distribution problems.
Post charges/credits for transactions.
Assemble stock orders.
Package and label doses that require special packaging.
Complete documentation of all distributive activities including prepare, maintain, and file all reports and forms.
Assist in recording department statistics.
Meet performance and educational requirements for the preparation and compounding of sterile dose forms.
Assist in the provision of out-patient pharmacy services (including off-site and contracted services).
Participate in the inventory management process (alert pharmacist to out-of-stock or unusual utilization circumstances, receive orders, restock, perform physical inventories).
Learn and competently utilize pharmacy automated information management systems.
Maintain, neat, clean, orderly work areas (unit-dose assembly, IV admixture, passive inventory, data control, library/conference, out-patient, employee facilities).
Participate in maintaining oncology retail pharmacy financial records (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Rebate documentation) through documenting, recording, tracking, reporting.
Works in coordination with billing department to seek insurance approval through submitting requested documentation.
Maintain excellent customer service-oriented care.
Job Qualifications:Education:
Required: High School graduate or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate degree as a Pharmacy Technician.
Experience:
Preferred: At least two years' experience with medication dispensing, preparation or administration in a non-pharmacy environment; or pharmacy experience.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
Required: PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification within 1 year of hire or actively pursuing certification (as determined by pharmacy management-not to exceed an additional 6 months) or Licensed Practical Nurse.
