Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

The Philanthropy Data Analyst will work closely with the system-level philanthropy office and local foundations to manage, support, and improve philanthropy operations. This position is responsible for optimizing, aligning, integrating, and referencing industry best practices related to gift services and fulfillment. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Operations, the Philanthropy Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the advancement of the shared service model of philanthropy operations and act as a key resource to Chief Philanthropy Officers, Major Gift Officers, IT, and Accounting.

This position is responsible for gift fulfillment activities, supporting prospect research programs; and supporting metrics-based performance measurement in the areas of Major Giving, Annual Fund, Planned Giving and Stewardship programs. The Philanthropy Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing data to increase fundraising effectiveness and enhance the functionality of the database to help grow the donor base. This position provides reporting, analysis, experience, and financial expertise in working with philanthropy leaders and gift officers to help inform higher-level strategic fundraising direction.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • The work performed by the Philanthropy Data Analyst will aid in both the system and local foundations better understanding trends, identify successful fundraising programs, and help guide data driven strategic decisions for future fundraising efforts. The Philanthropy Data Analyst will also serve as a champion to ensure that resources and technology are maximized in the delivery of services.
  • Responsibility 1 - The Philanthropy Data Analyst will perform and manage the gift fulfillment process for various local foundations. This includes but is not limited to developing efficiencies for transmission of data, ensuring coding standards are followed, fulfilling donor stewardship including management of the donor acknowledgement letter process to insure communications are accurate and timely.
  • Responsibility 2 - The Philanthropy Data Analyst will be responsible for managing the month end close process with Accounting on behalf of the local foundation.
  • Responsibility 3 - The Philanthropy Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting training and working with frontline fundraisers and support staff to establish standard queries, reports, and tools to measure, enhance and focus fundraising activities.
  • Responsibility 4 - The Philanthropy Data Analyst will be responsible for generating, evaluating, and synthesizing both quantitative and qualitative data and using this information to articulate a story to various levels of philanthropy staff. This information will also be used to guide and inform strategic, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Three years progressive experience in philanthropy, health care fundraising preferred.
  • Proficient use of Blackbaud fundraising software (Raiser's Edge or BBCRM) including query, import, export and global utilities.


Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
  • Competence across Google Business Suite as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including significant experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, superior organizational skills and ability to anticipate needs.
  • Motivated self-starter and problem solver with a demonstrated track record of producing high quality deliverables on tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, manage changing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of SQL report writing is a plus.
