Job Summary
The Department of Philosophy is looking to hire two (2) to three (3) part-time Lecturers in the Winter 2025 term to lead discussion sections for faculty-led lectures. For more information about our course offerings, please check the LSA Course Catalog . This is a non-tenure track position offered for one term only.

Responsibilities*
Required Qualifications*
Qualified candidates will have an advanced degree in Philosophy, a range of instructional expertise in moral philosophy, ethical theory, cognitive science, applied ethics, or related subjects, and demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/university level. Applicants will be selected based upon demonstrated subject matter expertise, demonstrated excellence in teaching experience at college/university level, and departmental needs.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

- Attend all lectures and exams for the course. (Exam times TBD . )
- Instruct discussion sections. Note that both lecture and discussions sections are scheduled as in-person instruction.
- Hold at least 2 office hours each week.
- Grade assignments, per lead faculty instruction.
- Meet weekly with the lead instructor and respond promptly to emails.
