Phlebotomy Supervisor- Laboratory Services

Job Summary

Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, the Phlebotomist Supervisor is responsible for coordinating activities of the phlebotomy department to facilitate departmental services including coordinating workflow, assists in scheduling, staffing, coordinates new staff orientation, assists manager with recommendations for process improvement and quality management. Exercises independent judgement, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring process, attends department meetings. Assists Manager with various clerical tasks. Maintains quality assurance and productivity data logs for department workflow. Is expected to perform "Phlebotomist Team Lead" duties in the absence of the Team Leaders. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Exemplifies in actions the daily adherence to the TGH behaviors and values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least (3) years experience in a lead position in a healthcare setting OR a bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, science or related field.
• Graduation from an approved Phlebotomy Training Program is preferred.
• Must have 1 year previous experience in a lead position as a phlebotomist; documented computer, pediatric & capillary puncture expertise and competency, ultrasound and training competency.
• Current PBT/ASCP Certification or PT/ASPT Certification required.
