Physical Security Technician

Qualification Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Professional certifications in physical security and/or information technology (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining security camera systems, access control systems and intrusion detection systems
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with information technology
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Follow all rules, regulations and policies of Fort Bend ISD and follow directives from supervisor
• Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
• Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor
• Answer district phone calls 24 hours a day and be available to work outside of regular business hours

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

• Prolonged, irregular and/or late hours when urgent or emergency situations arise, or when necessary to meet District or department needs; frequent district-wide travel and campus visits; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress
