JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform on-site technical work to configure, program, install, and maintain security/IP cameras, both single and multi-view. Bring the IP cameras into the VMS (video management system). Assist with access control systems (doors, card readers, etc.), projectors, and servers throughout the District. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing, repairing and maintaining security/CCTV cameras, projectors, and servers.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Install and upgrade TVOIP, IP cameras and security systems throughout the District.

  2. Relocate, repair and clean security cameras or systems as needed.

  3. Maintain electronic access control systems (doors) as needed.

  4. Maintain District projectors and televisions.

  5. Clean District projector filters as needed.

  6. Install camera software on client machines as needed.

  7. Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the District.

  8. Plan and analyze existing camera infrastructure for improvements.

  9. Recommend camera placements at new or existing buildings.

  10. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.

  11. Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.

  12. Service equipment according to established preventative maintenance schedule.

  13. Maintain accurate updated records of preventative maintenance.

  14. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

  15. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.

  16. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc.

  17. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

  18. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

  19. Occasional use of personal vehicle.

  20. Maintain confidentiality.

  21. Other duties as assigned.

  22. Regular attendance.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with the maintenance and repair of TVOIP (Television Video Over Internet Protocol), access controls, and other security systems

  • Experience with Windows and Windows server software

  • Experience with network and A/V cabling
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School diploma (or GED)
  • Associates degree in computer hardware and/or computer software disciplines, or equivalent work experience
  • A+ computer certification or equivalent computer hardware and software experience
  • Security Technician Certification (STC) or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Security Technician Level 2 or Certified Security Technician Level 1 or equivalent experience
  • Valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of security systems and cameras (analog, IP, and IP multi-view cameras)
  • Knowledge of video surveillance
  • Knowledge of projector maintenance
  • Knowledge of alarm and access control systems
  • Basic knowledge of audio/visual systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of computer workstation setup
  • Knowledge of server computer hardware and software applications
  • Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
  • Safe driving record and dependable transportation
  • Excellent communication skills
CONTACT INFORMATION:
EQUIPMENT USED:Hand tools, ladders and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installation, personal computers and peripherals including switches, power supplies, circuit boards, etc. Must be able to move and climb ladders multiple times a day.WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Able to work inside and outside in extreme heat or cold. The following physical requirements and or capabilities are what an employee needs to possess in order to meet the physical demands of the job:
  • Walking (move about on foot)
  • Carrying (transporting an object by hand)
  • Crouching (bending the body downward and forward by bending the knees and spine)
  • Climbing (ascending and descending stairs)
  • Lifting (able to lift 50 - 60 lbs.)
  • Kneeling (bending legs at the knees to come to rest on the knees)
  • Pulling (able to exert force upon an object so the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
  • Pushing (exerting force upon an object so the object moves away from the force)
  • Bending (ability to move at the waist downward and upward with reasonable mobility)
