Physician Assistant

Introduction

Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is looking to fill a Physician Assistant. This position will work Tuesday and Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am - 10:00pm. This position may be required to work extended or additional shifts, depending on the needs of the facility. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

As a Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Evaluating new referrals and completing the medical clearance process for new admissions.
• Completing histories and physical exams on new patient admissions.
• Assisting Medical Clinic in providing medical care as needed.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $59.96 and $63.98 per hour (approximately between $124,700 and $133,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 11/01.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

• Certification, or eligible for certification, in the State of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant as determined by the Medical Examining Board per s. 448.05(5), Wis. Stats. Eligible is defined as currently registered as a PA in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in WI OR you are within 3 months of graduation from a professional PA program. L icense must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Training and/or experience managing chronic medical conditions.
• Training or experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) software for documentation and patient care.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

• Experience using Cerner for EHR documentation, etc.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience independently providing medical care and medical clearance.
