The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children's Wisconsin (CW) seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our Pediatric Nephrology Section at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in a newly created physician-scientist position.

  • The Division of Pediatric Nephrology has a long history of research collaboration with faculty in the MCW Center for Immunology and the Department of Physiology at MCW, the latter long a national leader in the use of genetic and genomic applications for the study of hypertension and renal physiology.
  • Both MCW and the Department of Pediatrics provide a rich and collaborative environment. Through the Children's Research Institute, and in collaboration with departments and research cores across MCW, Children's Wisconsin provides significant support of the full continuum of interdisciplinary research to benefit children's health (https://childrenswi.org/medical-professionals/research/about-childrens-research-institute).
  • This position includes a competitive start-up package with 12-month salary and benefits commensurate with experience, training, academic achievements, and teaching activities.

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of creativity, productivity, and collaboration to build a vigorous, independent research program with a strong promise to obtain extramural funding. Established extramural funding is desired but not required. MCW/CW is committed to mentorship with opportunities to work with senior investigators within the Department of Pediatrics and throughout MCW. Desire to train students and postdoctoral fellows and participate in other activities of the department and section are additional aspects of the position.

About the Section of Pediatric Nephrology

We are an actively growing section comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated faculty and staff committed to excellent patient care, education, quality improvement, and academic scholarship. Our Section is comprised of 5 faculty including 4-Board certified nephrologists and one Associate Professor of Physiology and Pediatrics and has an ACGME accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship. The section also has 3 Advanced Practice nurses specialized in the areas of Transplant, Dialysis and Inpatient Care. Our program is supported by a clinical team that includes pediatric nurses, dietitian, psychologist, and social worker dedicated to patient care in Nephrology and Hypertension, Kidney Transplant, and Dialysis. Children's Wisconsin has an active in-hospital Dialysis Unit and is staffed by pediatric nurses that provide both chronic dialysis and acute dialysis services. Our clinical research and quality improvement activities include long-standing participation in national collaborative studies such as SCOPE (CHA), NAPRTCS, CKiD, CURE GN, the Pediatric National Research Collaborative, Neonatal Kidney Collaborative, and ICONIC. Clinical research activities are supported by a dedicated and expert nephrology research coordinator.

  • Suitable candidates will have an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.  or equivalent degree.
  • Candidates should be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.
