Practices professional nursing by the performance of both independent nursing and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards. Utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills involving the application of biological, physical, social, and behavioral science principles. Functions include patient advocacy and the initiation and performance of nursing care and advanced clinical skills to evaluate, diagnose, and treat human disease, pain, injury, physical or mental conditions, health maintenance and promotion, supportive and restorative care.

  • Works in conjunction with the medical staff and nursing to facilitate patient management through the healthcare system, thus exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosing and initiation of delegated medical processes or procedures in accordance with accepted practice standards.
  • Functions include patient advocacy and the initiation and performance of advanced clinical skills to evaluate, diagnose, and treat human disease, pain, injury, physical or mental conditions, health maintenance and promotion, supportive and restorative care.
  • Obtains a pertinent medical history, performs an appropriate physical examination, and reviews relevant laboratory or radiologic (or other) studies to assess the patients' medical, physical, psychological, and relevant socio-economic status
  • Will have full access to patient medical records and other information pertinent to those patients under his/her care
  • Formulates an accurate and appropriate diagnosis based on elicited data, and includes differential diagnoses as appropriate
  • Provides care with attention to safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness
  • Documents all examination data, diagnostic impressions, appropriate codes, and other patient care activities in the medical record, including the name(s) of any consulted physicians or other providers


  • Interpret diagnostic test results and make the necessary changes to the treatment plan, which includes medications, in response to those test results.
  • Provides education to patients and families.
  • Assist physician(s) with performing procedures.
  • Facilitate physician referrals of patients to appropriate health care facilities, agencies, other community resources and other physicians.


Requirements

  • Current PA-C Certification with NCCPA.
  • 3 years' Family Medicine / Internal Medicine experience desired.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire and maintained through the RQI process.
  • Prescriptive authority as demonstrated by DEA License.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced clinic environment.
  • Proficient in technologies to include personal computer, Athena EMR, Outlook email and descriptive dictation for coding & billing purposes. Must also have effective organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate notes and records.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of patient, patient account, and personnel data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with physicians, patients, patient families, staff and management.
  • 3 Primary Care days / 1 Walk-In day

  • Infant and Children's care for Well Child visits, immunizations, school physicals, and illness care.

  • Full Adult and Geriatric medical care for both acute and chronic illnesses, including evaluation, counseling, treatment, and referral (if needed) for common emotional disorders.
  • Care Management, Immunizations, Screening, and comprehensive Preventative services for all ages.
