Position Overview : The Project Engineer performs technical and administrative tasks for projects with working knowledge of construction. This is a position working in a fast-paced environment requiring good communication, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and organization. This position requires an individual with the passion and willingness to learn and ability to travel to project locations for an extended period of time.

Essential Functions - The individual in this role must be able to perform the essential functions of the role, and meet the following occupational demands, with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Identify and create RFIs and submittals.
  • Work with management and field leadership to assemble information for change orders.
  • Track and update daily and weekly reporting from information provided by field leadership. Ex labor hours, equipment, material receiving.
  • Effectively write and manage purchase orders that are within their approval limits. This includes invoice reconciliation and approving for payment or negotiating the needed revision(s).
  • Identify and procure project specific materials.
  • Facilitate various vendor deliveries to job site.
  • Work with field leadership and project management to develop and maintain the project schedule and budget.
  • Develop and facilitate relationships with field leaders, clients, sub-contractors and vendors in a professional manner that represents UPI values and cultures.
  • Prepare and participate in project meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Perform and manage One-Calls at the beginning of the project and updated as needed based on state requirements.
  • Responsible for assembly and distribution of field level documentation as needed.
  • Working knowledge of construction plans and specifications, and environmental provisions.
  • Perform as a strong member of the project and company team, taking the initiative to solve problems and seek out tasks.
  • Quality is everyone's responsibility.
  • Responsible for working with Field Leaders and other project team members to ensure all have the most current project documents, including but not limited to; drawings, specifications, forms, etc. Responsible for ensuring that all documents are stored appropriately in the job folder and working with the Project Manager to ensure all documentation is submitted to the client per project requirements.
  • Track, interpret and communicate various job data.
  • Actively promote our safety program through visible participation in activities such as toolbox talks, our Safety Opportunity Program, safety moments, safety inspections, and the reporting of all incidents and unsafe conditions .

Work Environment:
  • This position will work indoors in an office setting and outdoors at a job site.
  • Often exposed to sounds and noise levels from different equipment.
  • Can be exposed to hot or cold temperatures, depending on the weather.

Physical Demands - The individual in this role must be able to meet the following occupational demands:
  • Sitting, standing, and moving around an office environment or job site.
  • Lifting to 20 pounds.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
  • Due to the significant responsibilities of this role, it is essential it be filled on a full-time basis only.
  • This role frequently requires evening and weekend hours.
  • This role will work a combination of the hours in the office, at a job site or with your supervisor's discretion, the option to work remotely.
  • Work in the office is typically Monday - Friday, field work is Monday - Saturday with occasional Sunday.

Travel Requirements:
  • This role requires frequent travel (approx. 75%).

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • A four-year engineering / construction management degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience preferred.
  • Experience in oil and gas construction is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • The ability to function well under stress, despite numerous interruptions, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to self-motivate and prioritize effectively.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Comfortable leading self.
