Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek a Piping Designer to work on an initial 6-month contract in Spring, TX, likely to be extended!

Schedule:
  • Role can be hybrid.
  • Local travel is a possibility to Baton Rouge, Beaumont, and/or Baytown facilities.
Responsibilities:
  • The Project Design Engineering Layout Center is building a world class team of layout specialists with demonstrated technical experience to successfully develop conceptual layouts, preliminary plot plans up to and including developing 3D plots for both Oil and Gas, Downstream Facilities.
  • Successful candidates will provide digital design support to a wide variety of projects, ranging from: small projects to mega scale facilities, greenfield to brownfield, onshore to offshore, refining, chemicals, LNG, deepwater, unconventional/conventional & heavy oil projects.
  • Proactively coordinate with engineers/lead engineers to understand project specific requirements, verify design details and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices to develop facility layouts.
  • Skills to capture efficiencies through identification, development and application & improvement of digital tools to develop facilities layouts.
  • Quality control and courage of conviction to communicate opportunities as well as improvements.
  • Capability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering reviews of facility layouts
Requirements:
  • More than 5 years and maximum 10 years of experience in projects related to Oil & Gas and/or Refineries and Petrochemical Plants as Facility Layout Specialist and/or Piping Layout Specialist/Designer
  • 2D Software: AutoCAD, Micro-Station, SPPID
  • 3D Software: OptiPlant, PDS/S3D, PDMS/E3D, and Navisworks
  • 3D Modeling: Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Digital tools: Aconex, COMOS and/or ABE (some), etc.
  • Extensive expertise with hands-on experience in 2D/3D facility modeling & layout tools from Conceptual Design/Pre-FEED thru Detailed Engineering phases.
  • Experienced in directly developing piping 3D layout models, isometrics, piping routing, equipment layout/ plot plan
  • Understand industry spacing standards & eager to learn the Company's spacing standards & site specific layout requirements.
  • Constructability, accessibility, maintainability, operability and plant safety knowledge to develop facility layouts.
  • Troubleshoot/escalate unresolved issues in the tools, execution to minimize quality issues, delays in deliverables.
  • Experience in organizing and uploading drawings to web based storage sites/collaboration with project sites to share drawings with teams.
  • Have keen desire to learn new tools and collaborate in virtual environment to deliver results.
  • Have knowledge of types of process equipment, footprint and equipment placing on layout.
  • Preferred to have knowledge of stick built, modular and manufacturing layouts.
  • Preferred to have knowledge of various structures, buildings and pipe racks (3D model).
