Our Texas client is looking for a Plant Manager to support the operations on a 1 year contract with extensions.

Position Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Clients' chemical manufacturing plant. They should have significant experience in chemical plant operations, with demonstrated increasing levels of accountability including into management of production shift operations. Education or training in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, a robust background in process engineering and project management, as well as experience in supervising a chemical plant, including scaling up processes from trial to full production scale, would be additional experience that will set this person up for success. The Plant Manager's key accountabilities include ensuring smooth operations, delivering production campaigns to advance technology optimization, implementing strategies for improved yield and safety, collaborating with R&D for production optimization, and managing the plant's personnel. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in chemical and mechanical processes operations, strong leadership, and adept project management skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all aspects of plant operations to ensure safe and reliable production execution.
  • Manage operational planning, including staffing and improvement projects, to meet business and technology objectives.
  • Lead process optimization initiatives to enhance efficiency and increase yields for commercial scalability.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and repair to maintain uninterrupted production.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering for product development and scale-up processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Manage a team of process engineers and operations staff, providing leadership and support for their growth.
  • Offer technical guidance and troubleshooting support to operations staff.
  • Project manage improvement projects, ensuring goals and timelines are met.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and customers to align goals with business objectives.
Education / Experience:
  • 15+ years of operations experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in oil and gas refining or petrochemical industries.
  • Specific experience in leading production operation shift teams at a chemical plant operating facility is strongly desired.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering would be an asset.
  • Experience in operations of a novel chemical process to support development and scale up would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated progression and increasing levels of accountability in plant operations roles.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.
  • Proficiency in regulatory requirements, budget management, and relevant software

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed project implementation schedules using P6.
  • Integrate project cost estimates and schedule to produce a logic tied, resource loaded cost flow projection.
  • Analyze schedule deviations to identify and report on activities with potential impact on cost/schedule.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop an accurate Estimate to Completion (ETC) to ensure predictable project performance and cost forecasts.
  • Track changes to projected and actual project budgets and record needed and/or potential budget impacts in the appropriate software along with communicating budget impacts to the Nuclear Development team and Corporate Finance.
