To study cellular and molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer metastatis and therapy resistance to chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
A postdoctoral position to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer metastasis and therapy resistance to chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy is available in the laboratory of Guocan Wang , MD, PhD, in the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology of the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. We are looking for highly self-motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD degree, to investigate e the epigenetic and metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells and immune tumor microenvironment in prostate cancer progression , metastasis to bone and as well as therapy resistance to targeted therapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Successful candidate must be able to design novel projects, create hypothesis driven experiment, maintain excellent descriptions of experiments performed, standardize and validate new methods and be able to interpret results. Computer skills such as entering data obtained from experiments into graphic and statistics programs as well as the generation of figures after image analysis are essential s. The employee should provide scientific expertise and organizational skills in getting involved in various research projects involving genetic mouse models and human clinical samples . Candidate will be responsible for coordinating procedures with collaborators. Other skills include performing technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans. Read, write and edit manuscripts and reports, as well as help with grant writing.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Learn the basics of prostate cancer biology (e.g., tumor initiation, progression, and
metastasis), and the response of prostate cancer to current standard of care and novel therapeutic
agents, with a focus on highly lethal metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and
metastasis to bone and liver.
-Learn the basics of immune tumor microenvironment, with a focus on myeloid-derived suppressor
cells and tumor associated macrophages.
-Learn the basics of cancer metabolism and their roles in the regulation of cancer cell and
immune tumor microenvironment.
-Learn the basics of epigenetics and their roles in cancer progression and therapeutic
resistance.
-Learn using various in vitro and in vivo models for studying cancer cell function and immune
tumor microenvironment.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
M.D. or Ph.D.
Prefer candidate to have knowledge of epigenetics, immunology, and metabolism, and to have skills in the various assays related to epigenetics, immunology and metabolism.
Prefer candidate to have knowledge and skills of genetic mouse models and invivo metastasis mouse models.
Prefer candidate to have knowledge of single cell technology, such as single cell RNA-seq.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000 . depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience. MD Anderson trainee compensation also includes:
