JOB SUMMARY:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will experiment and contribute to the laboratory research program. They will organize, design, and perform experiments utilizing molecular biology, and/or biochemical techniques and assays. Experiments in the laboratory will include animal experiments, maintaining mammalian cell cultures, and transfections.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
• Design and perform experiments in vitro and in vivo.
• Prepare abstracts, manuscript for publication.
• Prepare written reports of research and grant proposals, independently, as assigned.
• Makes scientific presentations and performs other work-related duties as assigned.
• Run assays such as Western Blots, qPCR, WB, ELISA.
• Perform appropriate data analysis including t-tests, Anova etc.
• Help design and conduct research within a specified field.
• Train and supervise junior research staffs including student and/or other members of the team.
• Other related duties as assigned.

ACCOMPANYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of tissue preparation and staining techniques including paraffin embedding, sectioning, mounting, immunofluorescence and/or confocal microscopy.

Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).

Strong Problem-solving skills.

Strong analytical skills.

Detail Oriented.

Working knowledge of animal models design and protocol preparation.

Familiarity with initiating and maintaining primary cell cultures.

Knowledge about statistical methods.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Ph.D., M.D. and/or equivalent degree.

Three (3) years of experience in research and/or other equivalent fields.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Experience with assays to investigate cancer cell biology (oral cancer) is preferred.

Experience with of tissue preparation and staining techniques.
