Postdoctoral Associate in Theoretical/Computational Condensed Matter Physics

Position Description:

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in theoretical/computational condensed matter physics within the group of Prof. Yang Zhang at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The initial appointment will be two years, but is renewable for another one to three years, depending on the availability of funding and mutual agreement. The successful candidate is expected to explore quantum transport in magnets, oxides, and superconductors, lattice model simulation of correlated states, etc.

The Department has an exemplary research record, with seven professors earning NSF CAREER awards in the past eight years, eight professors among the world's top two percent of physicists based on citation count, the award of the prestigious American Physical Society 2021 Bonner Prize, eleven APS Fellows, and three AAAS Fellows. Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field (the degree to be completed no later than 01/01/2025). Candidate should have rich research experience and a strong publication record in theoretical and computational quantum condensed matter physics, broadly defined. Research expertise in one of the following methods: DFT, ED, DMRG, or QMC will be a valuable asset, but is not required.
