Job Description

Title: PreK Lead TeacherImmediate Supervisor: School Principal

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. B.S. Degree from accredited college or university in early childhood or child development
  2. Specialized training in early childhood field

Skills and Abilities:
  1. Demonstrates competency in the content knowledge including concepts, facts, skills, and tools of inquiry
  2. Provides learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful and relevant for all students
  3. Exhibits full understanding of all learning styles and differentiated instruction strategies
  4. Implements research-based instructional and assessment strategies
  5. Motivates, engages, and maximizes student learning
  6. Displays knowledge and use of oral and written communication
  7. Collaborates with family and community in the education of students
  8. Recognizes, appreciates, and employs cultural, ethnic, and social differences in students
  9. Follows all directives of immediate supervisor and Morgan County School Board policy in regard to professional conduct, duties, and responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  1. Reads, speaks, writes, and understands at professional level
  2. Organizes and effectively manages all classroom reports and communications
  3. Develops, documents, and implements appropriate lessons plans
  4. Engages in continuous professional development that enhances personal knowledge and self-improvement
  5. Creates and maintains an active classroom management plan
  6. Develops and maintains an effective classroom discipline plan
  7. Collaborates with parents, community, colleagues and supervisors
  8. Maintains safe and orderly classroom physical environment
  9. Possesses physically ability to navigate the school and classroom
  10. Assist in TS Gold Assessment and other technology used to support classroom instruction and communication.
  11. Works in a leadership role building a team atmosphere with the Teacher Assistant and other program staff to provide children with a safe and healthy learning environment.
  12. Demonstrates the ability to decide on the best use of developmentally appropriate methods and materials to help students acquire necessary skills, taking into account the different needs and abilities of individual students.

  2. Projects and modulates voice in a classroom environment with and/or without the use of electronic aides
  3. Represents the school system, school, and all school personnel in a positive manner at all times
