Rush University Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time, Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider to join the Rush University Internist Primary Care team located at Rush's main campus in downtown Chicago. This position is fully remote and will be primarily involved with covering physician in-baskets in Epic EMR to address messages and complete actions.

This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role will support the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the Rush University Internist clinic (RUI). The ideal candidate will have APP experience in Primary Care. The chosen candidate will play an integral role in developing and implementing standardized protocols to address phone calls and messages in the practice.

Job Description:
  • Full-time, 100% remote position, no call, no weekends
  • APP will be responsible for covering 10 full-time Primary Care Physician's Epic in-baskets to address messages and complete actions during business hours.
  • Top of license work - APP will be supported by RN/MA teams for initial triage of phone calls and messages in the pools.
  • Open template to flip messages to same-day virtual visits when appropriate (goal of at least 2 per day)


The Advanced Practice Provider functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. Promotes collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards.

Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With a Director of Advanced Practice and 30 Lead APPs across the system, Rush's vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license.
