The Principal Hardware Operations Lead for the Device Hardware organization drives strategic initiatives, business operations, and alignment across the horizonal hardware leaders in the organization. This detail-oriented leader will act as a "Chief of Staff" and thought partner to the Device Hardware leadership and will also work cross-functionally and collaboratively with PMs, Finance, HR, and Admin teams.

The Principal Hardware Operations Lead will be the primary owner of the organization's operational plans (including annual operating plans, 3-year vision plans, and business reviews) and business cadence and will drive resource planning for the Device Hardware organization, impacting and tracking data-driven KPIs measuring the Hardware team's ability to develop products efficiently and effectively at scale. This role's responsibilities include:

• \tWork with key stakeholders within the Device Hardware team and other partner organizations to lead our twice-yearly operational planning and quarterly guidance for headcount and budgets and co-authors applicable documents in close collaboration with Device Hardware leaders

• \tLead headcount planning at the program, product line, and total business level; consolidates Device Hardware point-of-view with GMs/PLs and partners with Finance for resource allocation as it pertains to roadmap and NTIs

• \tOwns goal planning and review mechanisms for goals across the org

• \tDrives org-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiencies and define metrics to measure business and org health; use your knowledge and experience with the consumer electronics product development life-cycle to drive creative solutions to improve these KPIs over time.

• \tWork with Device Hardware leaders in developing mechanisms that drive innovation across the org

• \tAct as primary liaison between Finance and the Device Hardware business, partnering with Talent Acquisition and HR as needed to develop resourcing strategies and solutions.

The ideal candidate is a thought leader who is skilled at driving alignment and influences successfully at all levels. They drive accountability for results and is biased for action in managing various workstreams concurrently. The candidate has exceptional verbal and written communication skills and bring strategic business context to help arrive at decisions in a timely manner.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of engineering experience

- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- Bachelor's degree (Engineering degree preferred)

- 10+ years of experience working on hardware-centric consumer products

- Experience analyzing and proposing data-driven solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

- Strong attention to detail and willingness to roll up sleeves

- Experience communicating with and presenting to senior leadership

- Demonstrated examples of leadership and ability to influence

- Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities

- Ability to translate large, complex data sets into actionable, understandable summaries

- Understanding of a hardware product development process

- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems. In particular, identifying customer and organizational needs and inventing new and efficient ways to meet those needs

- Experience doing operational planning and headcount management.

- Experience managing employees

- Experience with Excel

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
