The head of decarbonization solutions is responsible for the identification and development of AWS and partner decarbonization solutions for energy and utility companies. It requires a candidate who is not only adept in strategic business development and partnership building but also deeply knowledgeable about the energy industry's environmental challenges and solutions. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader, capable of navigating complex negotiations and collaborations, with a passionate drive to make a tangible impact on global sustainability efforts.

This is a technical role and as part of your job you will provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership while working with a world class sales and business development team. You will lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge with the AWS solution architect community. You will gain the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead efforts in identifying, evaluating, and establishing partnerships aimed at the decarbonization of the energy sector. This includes initiatives that leverage technology to reduce and remove carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and promote renewable energy sources.

- Develop and execute strategic engagements with key stakeholders in the energy industry, including energy companies, technology innovators, and startups focused on green technologies.

- Stay abreast of trends and innovations within the energy sector, especially those related to decarbonization and sustainability, to identify new business opportunities and partnerships.

- Engage with Business Development leaders, Solutions Architects, Account teams, Professional Services, Marketing and Partners to define decarbonization engagement strategies for AWS geographies and key accounts.

- Drive industry thought leadership, technical guidance, and solutions, from envisioning through to development of enabling content, such as Reference Architectures, Blogs, re-usable demos, code samples, and customer deployable example implementations using AWS.

Additional Details

- Travel - This is a global role that will require domestic and international travel. The amount varies depending on the work and is generally not predictable.

- Technical Role - This is a technical role for an Individual who not only has business development background but also firmly understands cloud technologies and decarbonization technologies.

A day in the life

This role will be visible at the senior levels of AWS, and you will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where our relative advantages or risks lie, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation, and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. One of the key aspects of this role is working with the Strategic Business Development team on Pan Amazon deals that drive extended value for customers and Amazon as a whole.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent

- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing

- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent

- Knowledge of large scale automation and workflow management or equivalent

- Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent

- Knowledge of presentations and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers

- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud

- Industry domain depth - decarbonization solutions for energy and utility
